Accessibility is scored by combining distance, parking availability, and entry restrictions. Driving time within 30 minutes, presence of public parking, and permission to enter marine parks are the main variables.

Depths of 3–6 m are the safest for beginners. This range coincides with the period when fish schools concentrate in shallow coastal layers, increasing bite probability.

Currents of about 0.5–1.0 knot are ideal. Strong currents cause the bait to drift and make rod control difficult, and they disrupt fish feeding activity.

02Actual point examples and conditions

Songdo Beach near Incheon, close to Seoul, is a 45‑minute drive away, has a public lot for about 200 cars, and offers a wide 4–5 m depth zone, making it suitable for beginners.

Gwangalli Beach near Busan has weak currents, and active fish movement is observed within an hour of low tide. Bites are reliably taken in the 3–5 m depth range.

Cheongdo Beach near Daegu places its parking lot right behind the shoreline, providing excellent accessibility, and its 3.5–5.5 m depth zone is broad enough to target a variety of species.

03How to use time of day and tide

"Golden time" is 1–2 hours before and after high/low tide. During this window fish ascend and descend the water column in search of food, concentrating bites.

The two hours surrounding sunset have lower light, limiting fish vision, but food particles tend to linger on the surface, causing a surge in bites.

06:00–08:00 and 18:00–20:00 also offer stable water temperatures, keeping fish metabolism active, so beginners can expect steady bites.

04Precautions and safety checklist

Before heading out, always check the Korea Coast Guard’s marine safety notices to identify closed seasons and minimum size limits. Restrictions vary by region.

Monitor real‑time marine weather from the Korea Meteorological Administration. Winds under 15 km/h and wave heights below 1 m provide the most stable fishing conditions.

The gear is a high‑elasticity carbon rod that tolerates a 10–12 kg test load while remaining flexible. It resists breakage even with sudden fish runs.
